Paudash Lake is really two lakes in one — Paudash and Lower Paudash, joined together — sitting on the Crowe River near its headwaters along Highway 28 southwest of Bancroft. It lies just north of Silent Lake Provincial Park and 27 kilometres south of Algonquin Park, which puts it in some of the finest country around. The lake breaks into four distinct sections — Outlet Bay, North Bay, Joe Bay, and Inlet Bay — giving it an enormous variety of shoreline for a single lake. The stats: about 7.5 square kilometres of surface, 46 metres of maximum depth, and 14.2 kilometres of length.
It’s a fishing lake with a real reputation, especially for bass — both the size and the numbers it produces. Solid walleye and lake trout populations back that up, with perch in the mix as well. One honest note for anglers: it’s a popular tournament lake, so summer fishing pressure is real. Early mornings and late evenings tend to be the most productive.
Getting on the water is easy — public and resort boat launches serve the lake — and the shoreline mixes long-established cottages with newer waterfront builds, so buyers see a range of ages and styles. Cardiff and the hamlet of Paudash cover local amenities; Bancroft is a short drive for full services.
As with most rural waterfront here, properties run on private well and septic — inspect both before you buy. On a busy fishing lake it’s also worth asking about water levels and dock depth through the season, since shoreline conditions can shift year to year. If Paudash sounds like your lake, talk to Wade Kovacic, Sales Representative with CENTURY 21 Granite Realty Group Inc., Brokerage, about what’s listed and what to look for. Because the lake splits into four distinct sections, each bay has its own character — worth spending time on the water in each before narrowing your search.
